A purported audio clip of a phone conversation between a post-graduate medical student, Dr. D. Preethi, and her mother has been circulating on social media. Dr. Preethi died while undergoing treatment at NIMS in Hyderabad on Sunday night, allegedly after injecting herself with an overdose of an anaesthetic drug at MGM Hospital in Warangal.
In the audio clip, Dr. Preethi describes her alleged harassment by her senior, Dr. Saif, and expresses concerns over his "hostile attitude" towards juniors and its potential impact on her academic and career pursuits. Her mother offers words of encouragement, assuring her that she will approach officials to help resolve the situation.
Police sources indicate that Dr. Preethi's family members shared the audio clip with the investigating officer handling the case. However, the authenticity of the clip is currently being verified.
Following Dr. Preethi's death, the Kakatiya Medical College reportedly suspended Dr. Saif, a PG medical second-year student who was arrested by Matwada police on charges of abetting Dr. Preethi's alleged suicide on Saturday.
